I believe that the most effective leaders are servant-minded as modeled by Jesus Christ. The mission of Milpitas Christian School to train the child in body, soul and spirit embodies that idea and resonates very strongly with me. It is the reason why I have entrusted MCS with the education of my two boys since they were in preschool. It is my privilege to be serving on the MCS Board and supporting it and the MCS mission to raise up the children to become.

“The 40+ year track record MCS has in excellence of education and healthy development – body, soul, and spirit – is remarkable. The world and the South Bay need institutions like MCS not only for the benefit of the children and their families, but for society at large. Two of our children went to MCS, with decidedly positive results for our family.”

I am so thankful and grateful for the mission of MCS in providing great education and also raising up the next generation to follow Jesus. I believe in the importance of planting the right seed at a young age so children can grow up in true wisdom, knowledge and understanding according to His way and His heart. I am excited to see the children learn and grow at MCS and I believe God will use them mightily for His kingdom and be the light of the world, whether in the business world, mission works, or church ministry.  As He is most faithful, He will guide them to the right path for His Namesake.  It’s my privilege and honor to be able to serve MCS along with other board members.

Hermie Smit, Board Member

MCS Board Member Since July 2022

University of Tennessee, B.S. Business Management 2016
Director of CityTeam in the Neighborhood & Church Engagement (2001-present)

I have dedicated the past 21 years to Christian ministry here in the Bay Area and I'm convinced that living according to the commandments of Jesus Christ - “the discipled-lifestyle” provides the best framework for thriving in the midst of a fallen world. Kids spend the majority of their waking hours at school and MCS brings healthy alignment with the values and objectives parents teach their kids at home, with what they learn and observe in church with the education our children receive at school.

I joined the board to help raise the profile of MCS at our local churches and to grow the community engagement of MCS students and parents through volunteering and service projects.
