Getting Ready For The Next Grade Level

Research shows that "Summer Learning Loss" ranges from 20-50%. Our 6-week Academic Summer School helps students to maintain and refine their skills while preparing them for the grade they will enter this Fall. The goal is to stimulate young minds over the long Summer break with fun and challenging exercises. Maintain or improve proficiencies in a relaxed, Summer School environment.

  • Academic Summer School will run 6 weeks from June 15 to July 24, 2020
  • Summer Enrichment is a weekly program just for middle school students. It runs from June 15 to July 17
  • No uniforms are required but Summer Camp T-shirts are required for off-campus field trips
  • Classes will be in session each week from 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 Noon on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday
  • Classes are not in session on Wednesdays
  • MCS will observe Independence Day. The Birchwood campus will be closed Friday, July 3.
  • Morning Extended Care (included with Summer School registration) is available as early as 7:30 a.m. until classes begin at 8:30 a.m.
  • Afternoon Summer Day Camp for Summer School Students (optional) is available from 12:00 Noon until 5 p.m.
  • Afternoon Extended Care (included in afternoon Summer Day Camp for Summer School Students tuition) after Summer Day Camp dismissal from 5 p.m. until 6:30 p.m.

Summer Elementary School

Registration is OPEN to all students entering Kindergarten - 5th grade:
  • Registration fee ($70) is non-refundable. Save $20 when you register by April 15, 2020
  • Tuition for Academic Summer School is $800 for the 6-week program. Sorry, no discounts for partial attendance
  • Registrant must meet citizen or resident requirements
Summer School students may register for the optional Summer Day Camp with Wednesday field trips.
  • Tuition for afternoon Summer Day Camp for Summer School students is $225 per week for K-5th
  • The week of July 3 will be prorated to 4 days (-20%)
  • Tuition includes Wednesday field trips and afternoon Extended Care
  • Tuition also includes afternoon off-campus activities for middle school students

  • Entering Middle School: 6-week Summer School

    6th to 9th Grades: Students may choose from:
    • Worship Guitar and Piano– For students with at least 1 year of experience on either guitar or piano, this class will give students the opportunity to learn fun contemporary worship songs, serve on the worship team at chapel, and gain a deeper understanding on how music is an expression of worship!
    • Math Skills and Creative Writing - In math, students will develop their understanding of reasoning skills, algebraic formulas, and other math topics. For writing, students will develop creative techniques and vocabulary while exploring different genres.

Summer Enrichment for Middle School

Registration is OPEN to all middle school students entering 6th - 9th grade:
  • Registration fee ($70) is non-refundable. Save $20 when you register by April 15, 2020
  • Tuition for Academic Summer Enrichment is $150 per week
  • Registrant must meet citizen or resident requirements

  • Entering Middle School: Weekly Enrichment

    Weekly enrichment classes also include:
    • STEM Design Challenge with Mrs. Jalali –
      Design and build solutions to solve an authentic real-world problem. For example, remove plastic debris from the ocean without harming marine life. 
      Offered: June 15-19 and June 22-26. (One week class. Repeated on June 22-26.)
    • Earthquake Design Challenge with Mr. Cho – 
      earn about earthquakes and design a building that can withstand a quake.
      Offered: July 6-10
    • Mathematical Mind-Benders with Mrs. Castle –Explore classic math problems, interesting paradoxes, and challenging logic problems. Learn to think “outside the box” to develop critical thinking skills and logical reasoning processes that will help you in math and other subject areas.
      Offered: July 13-17
